Update Task 4.1 – Shared resources

Dear NEARCTIS partners

we are currently working on creating a more structured list of the shared resource list. This will either become part of the nearctis.org website or in the form of a wiki – linked to nearctis.org

We will update you and present this idea in the early April meeting of NEARCTIS in Bruxelles!

Workpackage 4, Task 4.1: Inventory of shared resources amongst NEARCTIS partners

[go directly to the shared resources inventory form]

The NEARCTIS project is a European Network of Excellence (NoE) in which a large number of acknowledged EU traffic scientists and institutions join forces to gather the knowledge of various technical/ scientific fields, now spread over Europe in small or medium sized teams, and integrate them into a global (i.e both European and multidisciplinary) vision of the road traffic system, establishing links with other disciplines such as social or economical sciences, in order to make traffic management systems to better comply with the requirements of a sustainable road traffic system.

The TU Delft is actively involved in NEARCTIS, and is workpackage (WP) leader of WP4: CAPITALISATION AND SHARED RESOURCES

The capital of the NEARCTIS NoE consists of a large set of (partially) shared resources. Each member of the NoE has over time collected valuable assets to perform their research tasks. An important objective of the NoE is to bring these resources together, thereby strengthening the opportunities for (collaborative) research on ITS in Europe, and to enable spending research funds more efficiently. This is what we will try to achieve in WP4.

In this work package, the resources will be identified, collected and will subsequently be made available though a large (remote) database (except for physical resources, such as instrumented vehicles, measurement equipment, hardware, for which a detailed description will be included in the database). The following objectives can be identified:
–    Complete inventory of resources within the NoE
–    Setting-up of a framework for common use of resources for partners and associate partners.
–    Setting-up a database for remote access of data and resources, including ownership, common description of resource (including its use), etc.
–    Identification of possibilities of synergy amongst available resources (assimilation)

The first step hence is to make an inventory of resources within the NoE (partners and possibly associate partners). All partners are invited to fill in the inventory form. Please use this form as many times as you have resources available. Of course you can also send me an email if necessary.
